Farah is currently studying fashion design at Lasalle's degree course. She feels like, with fashion, there's this profound connection between clothes and expressive individuals that challenges the notions of dress. It shows how fashion goes beyond being limited or boxed within a single social category or gender.
She associates masculinity with the physical and emotional traits that make up a person that's tied to being "manly" despite their gender. For example, a person that does bodybuilding can come off as masculine because they display traits that denote physical strength.
However, she disagrees with the notion that outer appearance should coincide with being masculine. She states that anyone can express themselves however they want to and still be capable of achieving their goals.
“If I could change one thing about masculinity it would be to change the social perception towards it moreover its relevance to gender stereotypes. I think the conception of it causes the stigmatisation of femininity and it shouldn't be like that.”
"I think strength does not always have to be determined by one's physical abilities or assertiveness as easily portrayed by someone who is considered masculine because strength can also be easily portrayed by someone who's considered to be feminine."
